Mustang Moms are hosting spaghetti supper at cafeteria

The Mustang Moms will host a spaghetti supper prior to the Sweetwater vs. Midland Greenwood foot-ball game. The supper will be served at the Sweetwater High School cafeteria from 4:30-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19.
The plate will include spaghetti, bread, salad, corn, dessert, tea and water.

Nick Nemir is the Foot-ball Player of the Week for Sweetwater.
Nemir, a senior defensive back and wide receiver, had six solo stops and eight assisted tackles in last week’s win over Snyder, and he also caught two passes for 24 yards.

Loss to B-Spring knocks SW from playoff chase

BIG SPRING — Sweetwa-ter saw its slim playoff hopes in volleyball disappear on Tuesday, as the Lady Mus-tangs lost to Big Spring in four games by scores of 21-25, 25-19, 11-25, 19-25.
Sweetwater (23-15 for the season) fell to 3-5 in district play while Big Spring (26-13 overall) is now 6-2 and tied with Monahans for second place with two games left. Wylie is first at 8-0 and has clinched at least a share of the District 4-3A championship after beating Midland Greenwood on Tuesday. Sweetwater will entertain Greenwood (1-7) on Friday and ends its season by hosting Wylie next Tuesday.

SW sub-varsities lose low-scoring games vs. Snyder

Points were at a premium in Thursday’s action when Sweetwater’s sub-varsity football teams traveled to Snyder. Both sub-varsities came away with close losses in a pair of defensive struggles while kicking off district play.
Sweetwater’s junior varsity Mustangs lost 6-0 in their contest, while the freshmen fell by a score of 8-6. The nar-row defeats dropped both teams’ records to 4-2 and they will stay on the road to face Greenwood this Thursday.

SMS football teams are 3-0-1 vs. Snyder

Sweetwater Middle School’s four football teams came away with three wins and one tie against Snyder in their district openers at Mustang Bowl. Sweetwater’s teams will stay home this Thursday to face Midland Greenwood.
7th grade White 28, Snyder 6
Sweetwater White was led offensively by Alexander Kittley and Kurt Wetsel, who had two touchdowns apiece, and the defense was also strong against Snyder.
Kittley scored on runs of 81 and 55 yards, and Wetsel had a 60-yard interception return and 35-yard run. In addition, Kittley and Reggie Walker had two-point runs.
