Sweetwater overcame a long road trip, rain and late turnovers this past Friday for a 32-27 win at Muleshoe to go 2-0 for the first time since 2006. Isaiah McGee’s 30-yard interception return for a TD with 5:32 left provide the winning points for the Mustangs, who trailed 21-18 at halftime.

7th grade ‘B’ begins season at Dublin

The Sweetwater seventh grade ‘B’ football team went to Dublin for its season op-ener on Tuesday and lost by a score of 22-6.

Sweetwater High School’s tennis team played a match against Brownfield here on Saturday and lost to fall to 1-2 in fall play.
Sweetwater’s JV team will host a quad match with Big Spring, Snyder and Levelland this Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

Sweetwater Middle School teams served as hosts for a one-day volleyball tournament on Saturday.
The SMS seventh grade Red and White teams and the eighth grade Red team all placed second in their respective divisions.

McGee’s 4 TDs help SW hold off Mules in the rain

MULESHOE — Sweetwa-ter got a rude welcome at Muleshoe on Friday as rain fell throughout the contest, giving both teams problems as the football became slippery on the home team field’s turf surface.
And after a 66-35 win at home over Lubbock High in its opener — a game that featured a 54-point Sweet-water outburst in the first half — scoring was tougher this time around, especial-ly in the second half
