Mustangs receive top honors

On Monday, Sweetwater High School held its 2014-15 Mustang Football Awards Banquet at “The Center” on the Texas State Technical College campus.
All SHS varsity, JV and freshman football players were recognized as were SHS cheerleaders and student trainers. Special thanks was also giv-en to a number of other individuals for their support this season. The event was sponsored by the Mustang Booster Club.

McGee wins in LJ

Isaiah McGee picked up the only win for Sweetwater’s boys track team Saturday at a meet held in Stephenville with a leap of 20 feet, 1 3/4 inches in the long jump.

Plowboys shine at S-Angelo

Two Roscoe boys had top-3 finishes at the San Angelo Relays last weekend. Kevin Lavalais placed second in the 200 dash (23.93) while Max Nemir placed third in the 300 hurdles (42.2). Roscoe’s boys sprint and mile relays also competed but did not make the finals. Roscoe was one of the two smallest schools in its Class 2A-4A division.

Netters compete at tourney in Snyder

The Sweetwater High School tennis team competed on Friday at a tournament held in Snyder. Sweetwater will play again on Thursday when it hosts Wall in a dual match.

Highland, Blackwell track athletes at Trent’s meet

Highland and Blackwell sent their track athletes to a meet held in Trent this past Friday and recorded several top-six finishes.

Sweetwater is planning to hold a first-ever Lady Mustang Co-ed Volleyball Tournament on Friday and Saturday, April 17-18, at both Sweetwater High School gyms. The cost will be $60 per team. The teams will consist of four to six players, with at least two of them playing at all times and a maximum of eight players. All players must be on the roster to be eligible.
