SHS has football awards banquet Monday at TSTC

Sweetwater High School’s Football Awards Banquet is set for Monday, Feb. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the “Center” at Texas State Technical College. Meal tickets will not be sold at the door. SHS athlete, cheerleaders and student trainers will not be required to buy a ticket.
All SHS football teams will be recognized for their hard work and dedication, and the SHS cheerleaders and athletic trainers will be introduced and thanked for their constant support. A highlight video recapping the football season will be shown as well.

Softball teams start out 3-0

The opening day of action Thursday saw Sweetwater’s two softball teams go 3-0 at their annual tournament that is held at Jerry Collins Complex.

Highland girls basketball team

February 22, 2015

After receiving a first-round bye for winning the District 12-1A championship, the Highland girls basketball team begans the playoffs Friday. The Lady Hornets faced Balmorhea at Big Lake’s Reagan County High School in a Class 1A area-round game. The team members (who are pictured in no particular order) are Kailee Hall, Hannah Allen, Madison Moseley, Hannah Kirby, Sydny Helbert, Kellse Cornett, Reann Robinson, Kaylee Martin, Emily Hamilton, Kelsi Johns, Bailey Garrett, Sabrina Romero, Karlie Allen, Summer Huizar, Holly Bradbury, Shelby Harris, Katie Pantoja and Cheyanna Petty.

Lady Mustangs rout C-City

Sweetwater High School began its spring tennis season with a dual match at Clyde, followed by a one-day tournament this past Friday held at San Angelo Lake View.

Until the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s finale, Sweet-water was on its way to a lopsided defeat at Mustang Gym. Then the tide began turning for the home team, starting with a free throw with 7:27 to play by Jacob Peyton that cut Levelland’s lead to 71-41.
