4-3A track to wrap up today

Advancing to area competition will be the goal for Sweetwater athletes today as the District 4-3A track meet, which began Monday, ends its two-day run in Big Spring. A top-four finish is needed to qualify for the area meet in Pecos, which will be held April 18.
Sweetwater’s Cierra Knox qualified for area Monday with a fourth-place finish in the girls shot put (30-9), and Sweetwater’s De’andre Gatson was fifth in the boys triple jump (40-0 3/4).
Advancing to the finals for the boys were Johnathan Browning in the 100 dash, Mark Lawrence in the 400 dash and Isaiah McGee in the 200 dash. McGee had a second-place prelims time of 23.32, while Browning was third in his prelim with a time of 11.28 seconds and Lawrence placed fifth in the 400 prelims (54.79).
Advancing to today’s running finals for the Sweet-water girls were Nisha Wil-liams in the 100 and 200 dash, where she was sixth in both of Monday’s prelimin-ary races, and Mickenzie Brownlow, who was seventh in the 400 dash prelim. The top four in each of the area meet events advance to the regional meet in Lubbock set for April 25-26.
