Four-H members and youth interested in learning more about the 4-H food and nutrition project are invited to participate in a multi-county Food Fun Night on Tuesday, Sept. 20 from 6-7:30 p.m. The workshop will be held at the Ranch House located on the Taylor County Expo grounds in Abilene. The registration deadline is 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19. To register, call the Taylor County Extension Office at 325-672-6048. Cost for the camp is $5 for 4-H members and $10 for non-members, which includes supper. Registration may be paid at the workshop. Youth must be enrolled in the third through 12th grade to participate.
During the workshop, youth will have an opportunity to learn more about contests in the food and nutrition project — Food Challenge, Food Show and Nutrition Quiz Bowl. Food Challenge is designed much like the Iron Chef program featured on the Food Network. The Food Show focuses on food preparation and nutrition knowledge and Nutrition Quiz Bowl involves a team of 3 -4 people competing against another team to answer questions on nutrition, food preparation, food safety, and storage.
