SMS 8th grade boys highlights

The Sweetwater Middle School eighth grade White boys team swept all three of their games to win a local tournament held at the middle school gyms Friday and Saturday.
The eighth graders defea-ted Snyder 28-14, then rou-ted Merkel 26-4 before de-feating Wall 38-14 in their final game.
Against Snyder, Isaiah Gonzales was Sweetwater’s top scorer with 16 points. Deshaun Williams and Kris topher Warner scored three, Alontae Heath and Adan Sanchez two and Jonevan Hannah and Matthew Tre-vino one. In the win over Merkel, Williams had eight, Sanchez and Adrian Ortega four and Heath, Isaiah Gonzales, Roman Acuna, Warner and Brandon Gut-ierrez two.
Against Wall in the team’s final game, D’Jaman West had a team-high seven points while Acuna and Warner had six, Williams, Sanchez and Ortega four, Gonzales, Heath and Tre-vino two and Gutierrez one.
The seventh grade White boys team also played in a tournament held at the middle school gyms on Friday and Saturday.
The seventh graders lost to Snyder 18-16, then defeated Merkel 31-18 before losing to Wall 38-15. Isaac Currie scored eight points, Tyler Rea four and John Clift and Tristian Martinez two vs. Snyder; Martinez had 11, Currie nine, Rea five, Jacob Greenwood three, Aaron Caballero two and Clift one vs. Merkel; and Currie had a team-high nine, Clift four and Colter Reed and Gabriel Salazar one apiece against Wall.
