The AARP Driver Safety Program (DSP) is proud to offer a free classroom course to all veterans, regardless of age, through the month of November 2011. The DSP is offering the course to recognize and thank veterans for their dedication and commitment to service.
Any military personnel — active duty, retired, guard or reserve — are eligible to receive a free DSP classroom course on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011.
Veterans include those individuals who have served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, National Guard/Reserves, or Coast Guard. Spouses (including widows and widowers) are eligible to take the course, free of charge. All they need is to present identification such as dependent ID card, DD Form 1172, or membership cards to organizations such as the American Legion or Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
Veterans are eligible even if they have previously taken the course. This will be a four-hour course. The course will be in the Nolan County Courthouse on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011.
Registration will be from 9-9:30 a.m. and the course will be from 9:30-11:30 a.m. with a break for lunch until 1 p.m. The afternoon session will be from 1-3 p.m.
Participants will receive a Certificate which is valid for three years and may receive up to 10% on their car insurance. Contact your insurance company regarding a reduction on a part of your car insurance.
The Veterans Service Office and the Nolan County Courthouse are hosting this program and Elisabetha Guelker, Certified Instructor for the AARP-DSP, will teach the course. Please call Robert McBride at the Veterans Service Office in the Nolan County Courthouse at 235-2214 to register for the course.
