Abilenians Against Tenaska, Multi-County Coalition donate to Gaylord’s Pantry

December 29, 2010

Members of the Multi-County Coalition and Abilenians Against Tenaska are shown delivering food donations to Gaylord's Pantry, the food pantry located at First United Methodist Church. Pictured from left to right are Elaine Starkey, Elsie Pierce, Whitney Root, Sarah Kiesthniek, Dr. Jeff Haseltine and Ben Martinez.

Abilene and Sweetwater residents united to gather several hundred dollars of non-perishable food items as part of their annual giving to the communities where they live.
Multi-County Coalition representative Whitney Root asked members to make donations over the course of about a week and a half resulting in 10 boxes crammed with food delivered to the Gaylord's Pantry of Sweetwater's First United Methodist Church on Monday, Dec. 20.
The members of Abilenians Against Tenaska and the Multi-County Coalition normally do their giving as individuals, but this year they wanted to come together as a group to make their donations. They are farmers, ranchers, teachers, nurses and other citizens who want their community to remain clean and healthy. Both organizations hope to make community donations an ongoing endeavor.
The Multi-County Coalition and Abilenians Against Tenaska have been working together to prevent construction of the proposed Tenaska coal plant just outside Sweetwater.

I would not be too quick to cast stones or call names. These two organizations have some of the finest people in the Big Country. I am proud they have let me be a member of both organiztions.

I just don't understand why some people are against progress, they all use electricity and it takes plants to supply it.
Coal Generation is the safety way to produce power to homes/cities.
Also will create hundreds of job and tax monies to help run city government.

Most of the information from the Green Group is all false.

Being in the Engineering Sector and know far more than most of the ones against expansion and job creation.

The only real issue for this type of plant is Water!
