Sweetwater, Texas — Adlie S. (Bud) Smith, Jr., 87, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012, at his daughter’s home in Conroe, Texas. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 6, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home. Graveside service and burial will be Wednesday March 7, at 11 a.m. at Garden of Memories. Rev. James Baker will officiate with McCoy Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Bud was born April 3, 1924 in Dallas, Texas, to Adlie and Alice Smith. He was raised in McCaulley, Texas with four siblings. He graduated McCaulley High School in 1942 and joined the US Army Air Corps.
Bud is survived by his wife of 59 years, Edna Barnes Smith; his daughter, Sheryl and son-in-law, Jim Gardner of Conroe, Texas; son, Joe B. and daughter-in-law, Bernice Smith of Manchester, Missouri; grandchildren, Angie Graves, Boyd Gardner, Taylor Smith, Alexandra Smith, Aubree Smith and Brent Smith; two great-grandchildren, Jack and Trip; two brothers, Bill Smith and wife Nita of Rotan and Joe Smith and wife Patty of Midland; two sisters, Helen (Sis) Allen and LaRue Giesler both of San Angelo; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Buddy Allen, Randy Smith, Paul Landers, Donnie Kinney, Daron Kinney and Jim McKenzie.
Special honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Kinney and Ricky Armstrong.
