Greg Aiken

Sweetwater’s Greg Aiken, who will play baseball for McMurry University starting next year, this past week added a second all-state honor to his list of postseason achievements.
Aiken, who as a senior compiled a .443 batting average with 17 extra-base hits and also fielded .990 at first base for the Mustangs, was a Class 3A second team all-state selection at that position by the Texas Sports Writers Association.
Aiken, who was a four-year starter at first base, hit the only homer for Sweet-water this past year and also had 12 doubles, four triples and a .740 slugging percen-tage plus 34 runs batted in as he helped the Mustangs go 20-11 and advance to the Class 3A area playoffs.
Aiken, also named 4-3A’s MVP, was a second team all-state selection this past month by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association and played in the THSBCA all-star game held in Round Rock.
