Alene (Mitchell) Donham

ROTAN - Alene (Mitchell) Donham, 91, died Sunday July 3, 2011, at Fisher County Hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday July 7, 2011, at the Church of Christ in Rotan. Burial will follow at Roby Cemetery under the direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.
Born Dec. 21, 1919, in Anthony, Kansas, Alene was the daughter of the late Frank and Ada (Knight) Mitchell. Alene moved to Fisher County in 1922 and later married Luther Donham on Nov. 3, 1935, in Fisher County. She worked in the home raising her family while she enjoyed sewing, reading and keeping diaries. Alene was also very involved as a member of the Church of Christ in Rotan where she was an elder’s wife and the ladies Bible class teacher. 
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and three brothers, Doyle, Orval and Frank Mithchell.
Alene is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Martha Donham of Sweetwater; two daughters and sons-in-law, Londa and James Medlin of Odessa and LaVon and Ron Gimpel of Somerset, KY; six grandchildren, Beth Niedert and her husband Brian, Bonnie Garcia and her husband Louis, Jeanie Rex and her husband Dan, David Medlin, Rachael Sutton and her husband Paul and Tim Gimpel and his wife Stephanie.
