Two on 1st team; nine are honored

Nine Nolan County high school football players — three each from Roscoe, Highland and Blackwell — received All-Big Country recognition this week from the Abilene Reporter-News in either Class 1A or Six-Man. And two of the players — Roscoe receiver Shelton Toliver and Highland defensive lineman Gaga Soedarsono — were named to the first team in 1A and Six-Man, respectively.
Toliver, a 6-0, 185-pound senior, caught 78 passes for 987 yards and 17 touch-downs for the Plowboys. Soedarsono, a 5-10, 175-pound junior, had 97 tackles and 12 sacks this season for Highland.
Blackwell’s Jayden Jones and Matthew Lowry earned Six-Man honorable mention at two positions, with Jones making it at running back and linebacker and Lowry named at quarterback and defensive back. Also earning Six-Man honorable mention were Highland’s Michael Hyde at running back and Shelby Howard on the defensive line as well as Blackwell’s Mason Magness on the defensive line.
In addition, Roscoe’s Cutter Davila at quarterback and Max Nemir at linebacker got honorable mention in 1A.
Toliver was a second team all-state selection at wide receiver by the Associated Press Sports Editors. Lowry earned first team all-state honors and Jones was named second team all-state by the Texas Six-Man Coaches Association.
