All Smiles "Traveling Miles for Smiles" mobile dental unit

All Smiles, a group based out of Dallas, was stationed at various Sweetwater schools last week to help bring traveling dental care to Sweetwater ISD students. The company launched their Traveling Miles for Smiles campaign in 2004 in an effort to assist schools, organizations and parents invest in their child's health with on-site dental care. Seeing the great need of a lack in dental care among students, Molly Thomas, SISD Head Nurse stated that the program has been in consideration for some time. The original concept was intended with only the elementary schools in mind, yet Thomas noted that she began to see a need in the high school of students who made their last visit to the dentist around seven or eight years ago. For those who participated, All Smiles did an exam, cleaning, x-rays and fluoride for the students and determined if they needed work done. Those who needed work, saw All Smiles the same week and had their work done on the mobile units.
