A graveside service for Alvin Wayne Smith, 82, of Tyler, will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Feb. 10, 2013, at Newman Cemetery in Fisher County with his family officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, at McCoy Funeral Home, located at 401 E. Third Street in Sweetwater.
Smith died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Veterans Hospital in Temple.
He was born Oct. 19, 1930, in O’Donnell. He married Bobbie Geraldine Powell on Dec. 22, 1950, in Brownfield. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He worked as a self employed electrician most of his working life. Smith traveled and lived the last 20 years with his loving wife in their RV trailer.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Geraldine Powell Smith of Tyler; two sisters-in-law, Marvline Benson of Tyler and Alline Ratliff of Alma, Ark.; brother-in-law. Conrad Ratliff of Alma, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and grandparents.
Pallbearers will be his family members.
