ARLINGTON — Alvina Moncada, 85, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 13, 2014.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. on Monday in Arlington Chapel. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. on Monday at Parkdale Cemetery. Visitation took place from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday at Arlington Chapel with prayer service at 6 p.m.
Alvina Gomez Moncada was born Nov. 7, 1928. Our Mamo was the rock of the family and was a supportive, positive influence raising and guiding beautiful children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her faith in the Lord set an example for her entire family. Her strong faith gave her family the peace needed to see her through her last days.
Alvina was preceded in death by her first husband, Alfredo Rivera; three sons, Elias Rivera, Gilbert Rivera, Fred G. Rivera; second husband, Nicolas Moncada; parents, Reyes and Manuela Gomez; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children, Robert Rivera and wife, Cecilia, Nelda Rivera Gonzales and husband, Cruz, and Nancy Rivera; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
