Amado “Buck” Lopez, 74, of Roscoe, was born to Juan and Carmen Lopez on Sept. 13, 1936, in Shiro, Texas.
He died Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2011, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hondo, TX with Father Ken officiating. Interment will follow at Hondo Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories, recited by Bill Butler. Another Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, 2011, at Hondo Funeral Home in Hondo, TX.
Lopez married Sapopana Cardenas on Jan. 9, 1956, in Roscoe. He was a longtime resident of Roscoe, but currently was a resident of Sweetwater Healthcare Center. Buck was a farmer working for Billy Whorton for 12 years and Jessie Faust for 17 years. He had worked for U.S. Gypsum for 11 years and for Roscoe ISD for a few years and then worked for W-2 Show Pigs in Roscoe up until his health began to fail. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Sweetwater. Buck was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother and uncle and a great friend to all that knew him, especially the youth.
Survivors include daughters, Lucy Torrez and husband Joe of Sweetwater, Jo Anna Wofford and husband Mark of Sweetwater; sister, Tana Burks of Abilene; three grandsons, Khris Torrez, Casaré Torrez and Matthew Wofford; five granddaughters, Janell Lopez, Kassie Lopez, Amy Torrez, Kelli Wofford and Kala Wofford; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sapopana on Jan. 17, 2000; two sisters, Josie Navarrette and Sinfo Garcia; two brothers, N.L. Lopez and Alex Lopez; and his parents, Juan and Carmen Lopez.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Janell Lopez, Khriz Torrez, Kassie Lopez, Amy Torrez, Casaré Torrez and Matthew Wofford.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kelli Wofford, Kala Wofford, Ruben Navarrette, Marty Clopton, Paul Solis, Wayne Lansford, Rudy Lopez and David Geron.
