American Legion to host Veterans Day ceremony

November 9, 2010

Veterans Day is Nov. 11

Take the time and thank a veteran.
Veterans Day is a day for remembering how our freedom was given to us. The Roscoe American Legion Post #227, will be having a flag raising ceremony and free breakfast feed, on Thursday, Nov. 11.
According to Donnie Willman, the flag raising ceremony is something that has been done for the past several years. Three years ago, the breakfast feed was started.
"It's about honoring our flag, our veterans and showing patriotism," Willman said.
The flag ceremony is a way that the community can honor the living veterans and all those that have served, according to Willman.
The ceremony will begin at 7 a.m. and breakfast will follow. All veterans and their families are invited to attend.
If you are unable to attend the ceremony Willman said that simply taking the time to thank a veteran is a great way to commemorate the day.
"It's through those that have served that we are allowed to enjoy our freedom," Willman said.
