Area athletes are honored at BBC dinner in Abilene

May 20, 2014

Roscoe’s Eva Aguayo and Highland’s Michael Hyde were among 52 athletes — all selected by the Abilene Reporter-News as Best of the Big Country Student-Athletes of the Week — who were honored during an awards dinner at Abilene Christian University this past Saturday.
The 52 student-athletes were nominated by their coaches on the criteria of leadership, character, team-work and on-field perfor-mance. The award was created to draw attention to those representing their programs in a positive way on and off the field.
Each semester, 13 students from the four Abilene high schools and 13 students from the Big Country area but outside the Abilene city limits were chosen.
In all, 26 high schools were represented.
