Nolan County area basketball teams found the going tough on Friday.
The Roscoe boys and girls lost at Stamford by scores of 86-36 and 42-28, respectively.
Highlandâ€™s teams hosted Roby but they experienced a similar fate, as Roby won the boys game 61-25 and slipped by the girls 30-28.
Blackwellâ€™s teams hosted Bronte and the boys lost 57-24, while the girls fell 58-28.
The Roscoe boys had a chance to tie Stamford for first place in District 9-A, Division I, but instead fell to 2-2 in district and 9-9 overall while Stamford â€” which is ranked No. 12 in Class 1A, Division I â€” improved to 4-0 in district and 19-3 overall.
Roscoe was paced by Caden Smith with 17 points. Cody Graham had eight, Devan Cole seven, Edgar Gallegos two and Keeston Ford and Jesus Leanos one.
Highlandâ€™s boys (2-4 in District 11-A, Division II) got 11 points by Josh Andrews, eight by Landon Rowlett, four by Ron Covington and two by Kaden Nachlinger.
Highlandâ€™s girls (6-2) nearly upset the No. 6 team in Class 1A, Division II but Roby held on to go 8-0 in district play and take a two-game lead over the Lady Hornets with four remaining. Highland led 17-13 at halftime, but was outscored 17-11 by Roby in the second half. Kara Hughey had nine points, Shyan Womack six, Sierra Allen and Jessica McCain five, Callie Sandusky two and Beth Richburg one.
Stamfordâ€™s girls improved to 4-1 in District 9-A, Division I by beating Roscoe (1-4 in district, 8-15 overall).Roscoe was led by Lynnsi Moses with eight points. Carolina Perez had five and Natalie Anthony, Lind-sey Williams and Jacinda Morales three, while Faith Boren, Kaitlinn Reed and Katie McIntire had two.
