Area churches join to give back to community

February 26, 2013

Sweetwater area churches are joining together the first week in March to teach and have the students of the community give back.
The churches participating in this two-day event are the 4th and Elm Church of Christ, Corner Stone Fellowship, Emmanuel Fellowship, First United Methodist Church, the First Baptist Churches of Blackwell, Roscoe, and Sweetwater and Trinity Baptist Church.
The churches will be doing various work projects such as yard work and painting for the elderly, trash pickups in the community, purchasing resources for the Women's Resource Center, doing a canned food drive for area food pantries, working with the Children's Advocacy Center and hosting a banquet for Gaylord's Food Pantry.
The theme is "The Voice" and through the project participants are seeking to be a voice for the voiceless. Additionally, they will be having a guest speaker and band performing Friday and Saturday night. The dates are March 1-2.
"We would like to thank Brookshire Brothers for their contribution to this event and supporting their community."
If there are any other churches interested in participating in this event, if there are businesses desiring to support this event or for more details contact Clay Jacobson at (325)-766-3665 or j.clayjacobson@gmail.com.
