Area runners compete Friday

Regional track action begins on Friday

Several Nolan County high school runners will be competing at regional track meets on Friday.
Highland’s Taylar Ham-mand (girls 3,200) and Roscoe’s Jesus Leanos (boys 3,200) run Friday morning at the Region II-A meet at Abilene Christian University while Highland’s Beth Richburg (girls 100 hurdles), Blackwell’s Mark Monroe (boys 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles), Black-well’s Jayden Jones (boys 100 dash, Highland (girls 800 and 1600 relay), Ros-coe’s Jacinda Morales (girls 400), Highland’s Lora Stew-art (girls 400) and Roscoe’s Eduardo Gallegos (boys 400) compete in running prelims starting at 11 a.m.
Nick Nemir in the boys 100 dash and 300 hurdles and Sweetwater’s boys 800 relay will compete Friday evening in running prelims at the Region I-3A meet at Texas Tech University.Runners going to the finals will compete on Saturday, as will Roscoe’s Morales (girls 800), Highland’s Sheldon Hall (boys 800), Highland’s Hammand and Madison Moseley (girls 1,600), Roscoe’s Leanos (boys 1,600), Blackwell’s Stephanie Metcalf (girls long jump), Blackwell’s Jones (boys long jump and pole vault), Blackwell’s Mason Magness (boys pole vault), Roscoe’s Devon Freeman (boys pole vault) and High-land’s Peyton Howard (boys pole vault) at the Region II-A meet and Sweetwater’s Destiny Osteen and Claire Williams (girls shot put) at the Region I-3A meet.
