Area teams put on hold another day

February 12, 2014

Tuesday’s Class 1A, Divi-sion II bi-district girls play-off game between Roscoe and Paint Rock was resche-duled for today due to the bad weather that has affected many teams lately.
Roscoe (15-13) and Paint Rock (17-8) are now sched-uled to meet at 7:30 p.m. today in Robert Lee.
On the boys side, a seas-on-ending game between Highland and Ira has been rescheduled for today in Ira with the JV boys playing at 4 p.m. and the varsity game immediately after.
Highland (7-2) has a half-game lead over Roscoe (7-3) for the No. 2 playoff berth in District 13-1A while Ira is in first place with a 9-0 record.
While all three teams are assured of playoff berths, Highland must defeat Ira to avoid a second-place tie that would force a tiebreaker or coin flip with Roscoe to decide district seeding.
Roscoe ended its regular season by defeating West-brook 67-43 on Monday, getting 24 points from Jesus Leanos and 23 from Javier Leanos. The playoffs begin next week.
The Blackwell boys’ sea-son will be over in 14-1A if they don’t reschedule their game against Garden City that was cancelled twice by the weather. A decision will be made today.
Blackwell (8-5) is a game behind Bronte (9-4) for the No. 3 and final playoff spot in District 14-1A with Bronte winning both head-to-head games. The Hornets, how-ever, got a 50-point effort by Matt Lowry in defeating Veribest 83-35 last Friday.
