Art show slated for Nov. 17

November 13, 2012

The West Texas Art Guild is presenting "A Return to the Big Country Art Show" on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the Colorado City Civic Center, located at 157 West Second Street in Colorado City.
Guests are invited to bring their art work and spend the day enjoying an art demonstration by Leada Woods of Colorado City. In addition, attendees can tour the city's museum and walk through the "Railhead Days" arts and crafts displays. At the end of the day, everyone may pick up their work.
All submitted work must be original, done without supervision and completed within the last three years. Including the frame, the entries must not exceed 50 inches in any direction.
No wet paint or sawtooth hangers are allowed, and all works must be properly framed, wired, protected, mounted and ready for hanging and display.
Awards for the artwork are $100 for first place, $50 for second place and $25 for third place in five categories: Oil / Acrylic; Watercolor; Photography; Dry Media; and Three-Dimensional Works. Quilts cannot be entered.
In addition, ten honorable mentions awards at $10 each will be given, according to the number of entries in a category.
One "Best of Show" award with a $200 prize will be distributed, and ribbons will be given for "Judge's Choice" and for "People's Choice." Cash awards are limited to one per person.
Judging the event will be Judith Tereletsky from Big Spring. All area-wide artists over the age of 18 are eligible to compete; fees are $10 per entry with a limit of six per artist.
