Barbara Joan Warvie, 77, of Sweetwater, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at her residence.
Her body was cremated and a service is planned for a later date.
Warvie was born June 28, 1933, in La Mesa, N.M. She had lived in Sweetwater since April of 2010 and in Tucumcari, N.M. over 20 years before that. She had worked as a cook and retired after 25 years of service.
Survivors include two daughters, Christy Silva and husband Archie of Sweetwater and Kathy Gibbs and husband Fritz of Ninole, Hawaii; five sons, Bobby Holland of Daytona, Fla., John Long of Okmulgee, Okla., Rustin Long and wife Lorna of Las Vegas, Nev., Philip Venegas and wife Young of Hilo, Hawaii and Paul Venegas and wife Amanda of Kingman, Ariz.; two sisters, Orrana Norris of Puna, Hawaii and Terry Alumbaugh of Joshua Tree, Calif.; one brother, Chris Hyatt of Wichita Falls; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Opal Mae Hyatt; father, Arlon James Cogle; a sister, Betty June Gray; and a daughter, Paula Jill Venegas.
