Baseball Classic golf tourney is set

The Mustang Baseball Classic golf tournament will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Sweetwater Country Club with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. This event is a four-person scramble, and all proceeds from this year’s tournament will go to support the Sweetwater High School baseball program by enabling the purchase of additional equipment.
There is a fee per team or for individuals not on a team. Prizes to be awarded will be Titleist cart golf bags for first place, Titleist golf balls and caps for second place and Sweetwater Mustang baseball caps for third place. Checks can be sent and made payable to the Sweetwater Mustang baseball program. For entry fees or more information, call Don Timm at (325) 235-8093 or Coach Roland Herrera at (325) 236-1003.
SHS tennis results
Sweetwater High School’s tennis team lost to Levelland 18-1 last Saturday.
The team will play its next match this Saturday at Midland Greenwood.
Boys doubles — Bryan Vause and Zac Bax lost 4-8; Keygan Valdez and Billy Reeves lost 4-8; Ulbrich-Butler lost 5-8.
Girls doubles — Jenny Medellin and Teresa Perez-Poe lost 1-8; Crystal Foust and Gisela Selano lost 1-8; Naomi Gonzales and Rebecca Gonzales lost 0-8.
Mixed doubles — Gewel Cherry and Chris Shoemaker lost 5-8.
Boys singles — Bryan Vause won 6-2, 6-1; Zac Bax lost 2-6, 6-7 (6-10); Keygan Valdez lost 1-6, 2-6; Billy Reeves lost 6-7, 1-6; Chris Shoemaker lost 4-6, 1-6; Marc Butler lost 6-7, 1-6.
Girls singles — Jenny Medellin lost 2-6, 3-6; Ter-esa Perez-Poe lost 4-6, 0-6; Gewel Cherry lost 0-6, 4-6; Crystal Foust lost 0-6, 0-6; Gisela Solano lost 0-6, 2-6; Naomi Gonzales lost 0-6, 2-6.
