Baseball, s’ball teams host GW

April 8, 2014

Beating Greenwood at home today would end the Sweetwater baseball team’s three-game losing streak in district play and help its playoff hopes. The softball team also plays Greenwood here today, and with an 0-6 district record, the Lady Mustangs simply can’t af-ford another loss if they are to reach the postseason.
The baseball team, 2-3 in district, beat Greenwood 7-6 in nine innings in their first meeting March 18 to begin district play. Greenwood (0-5) is the only winless team in district so far and its playoff hopes may hinge on beating Sweetwater, which is tied with Monahans for fourth place with five games to play. In softball, Greenwood (4-2) is tied with Wylie for second place and very close to clinching a playoff spot.
