Bellamy Brothers to perform free concert

The Bellamy Brothers will perform a free show at the Fifth Annual West Texas Wind Festival on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011. They will take the stage at 8 p.m. and again at 9 p.m. after the firework show.

The Fifth Annual West Texas Wind Festival is expected to be another event in which families from the surrounding areas can gather for many activities on the streets of Roscoe. The free event will feature headline act The Bellamy Brothers. Local band Lawless Flatz will also perform during the event. Other attractions this year include the Plowboy Mud Bog at George Parks Field, food and craft vendors downtown, The Roscoe Volunteer Fire Department barbecue cook-off and a fireworks show. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday. Oct. 15, 2011, in Downtown Roscoe "On The Bricks".
The vendor area will open at 10 a.m. One booth that will be available, put on by local wives of firefighters, will feature a bake sale to benefit the family of nine-year-old Alexis Mahnke who recently underwent brain surgery. Call Kelly Etheredge at 325-725-0756 for vendor information.
Mud Bog registration will begin at 10 a.m. at George Parks Field. Cost is $25 per driver if you want to run your rig. For more information, call 325-514-8384 or 325-280-1917.
The Roscoe VFD barbecue cook-off will feature three categories this year — steak, chicken and ribs. Cost to enter is $75. Meats to be judged are 16 ounce ribeye steaks, pork spare ribs and half of a chicken. All three categories must be entered. There will be a cooks meeting at 8 a.m. Camping spots will be available. 10 a.m. — Vendor/kids/music area open (downtown)/Mud Bog registration (George Parks Field).
5:30 p.m. — Live music with Lawless Flatz.
7:15 p.m. — Cook-off recognitions.
8 p.m. — Live music with The Bellamy Brothers.
8:45 p.m. — Fireworks.
9 p.m. — The Bellamy Brothers.
