Holy Mass of Christian Burial for Bentura M. Salgado, Jr., 61, of Sweetwater, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Charles Okonkwo officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at McCoy Chapel of Memories.
Salgado died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, in Greeley, Colo.
He was born Nov. 21, 1950, in Sweetwater. He married Luzemma Salazar on Oct. 21, 1969, in Sweetwater. For 28 years, Bentura worked for Santa Fe Railroad. He worked as a section foreman. He worked for Pace Packing for two and half years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Salazar-Salgado of Sweetwater, TX; daughter, Olivia Lopez and husband Cruz of Hereford, TX; sons, Ventura Salgado III of Sweetwater, TX and Samuel Salgado and wife Wendy of 29 Palms, Calif.; brother, Salvador Salgado of Sweetwater, TX; nieces, Maria Ornelas of Sweetwater, TX, Georgina Rodriguez of Sweetwater, TX and Audrey Basey of Leander, TX; nephews, Salvador Salgado, Jr. of Abilene, TX, Rocky Salgado of Floresville, TX and Mark Salgado of Floresville, TX; grandson, Syna Salgado of 29 Palms, Calif.; and granddaughters, Sophia Salgado of 29 Palms, Calif. and Luzema Lopez of Hereford, TX
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bentura, Sr. and Maria Salgado; sister, Esperanza Garza; brother, Benito Salgado; and nephew, Michael Salgado.
Pallbearers will be Salvador Salgado, Sr., Salvador Salgado, Jr., Abraham Salazar, Joe Angel Sepeda, Arthur DeLeon and Jerry Espitia.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rocky Salgado, Mark Salgado, Carlos Salazar, Abel Salazar, Eddie Salazar, Daniel Olguin, Salvador Cano, Mario Rios, Mike Martinez and Robert Nuñez.
