Bernice Mae (Williams) Branson

Funeral services for Bernice Mae (Williams) Branson, 82, of Plainview, (formerly of Sweetwater and Snyder), will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Deacon Bill Butler officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Branson died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011 at her home in Plainview, Texas.
She was born April 30, 1929, in Moulton, Texas (Lavaca County). She married James W. Williams on June 1, 1946, then married Furman Branson on July 1, 2000. Bernice lived in Sweetwater since 1941. She was a former employee of Wall’s Industries for six and one half years as a quality inspector. She also worked for home health, and a volunteer at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater since 1980. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Moulton, Texas. Bernice moved to Snyder in 2000 and Plainview in 2010.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Shano and husband Walt of Peoria, Ariz.; sons, Mike Williams and wife Cathy of Plainview, Texas and David Williams of San Antonio; sister, Evelyn Krecji of Sweetwater; brother, Franklin Machart of DeKalb, Texas; three grandsons, Jim Shano of Arizona, Cody Williams of Plainview, Texas and Marc Williams of The Dalles, Ore.; seven great-grandchildren, Lindsay Lee Ann Skidmore, Nicole and Ashley Shano of Arizona, Carson and Austin Williams of Plainview, Texas and Callen and Emily Williams of Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James on June 1, 1946; parents, Frank and Mary Machart; sisters, Dorothy Burrow in 1987, Mary Crowder in 1982 and Gladys Guelker in 1982; and second husband, Furman in 2010.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jim Shano and Cody Williams, great-grandson Carson Williams and nephews Ronnie Krejci, Steve Guelker and Mike Maxwell.
A gift in Bernice’s name can be made to Interim Hospice of Plainview, Texas.
