Funeral services for Betty Elouise Alderson, 84, of Sweetwater, will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2013, at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Ward Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at McCoy Funeral Home.
Alderson died Thursday, May 30, 3013, at her home.
She was born June 28, 1928, in Abilene. She married Robert D. "Bobby" Alderson on Aug. 9, 1948, in Mineral Wells. Betty moved to Sweetwater in 1959 from Big Spring. She was a graduate of Mineral Wells High School and was past Social Editor of the Mineral Wells Index newspaper. In the early years she worked for Bowen Drug Store in Sweetwater and then was bookkeeper and manager of Cox Jewelers for many years. Until her illness, Betty was a very active member of Trinity Baptist Church and was a volunteer for the Women’s Crisis Center.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Alderson of Sweetwater; daughter, Ann Head of Victoria; son, Danny Alderson and wife Connie of Abilene; sister, Bobbie Ann King of Amarillo; brother, Warren Sabin and wife Billie of Oklahoma City, Okla.; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Cladie Sabin; and a sister, Joyce Bailey.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Memorials may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church Youth Program or Compass Hospice, 1003 East FM 700, Big Spring, Texas 79720.
