Funeral services for Betty Lou Rowan, 71, of Sweetwater, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Ward Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at McCoy Funeral Home.
Rowan died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater.
She was born Nov. 6, 1939, in Roby, Texas. She married Jackie Edd Rowan on Oct. 15, 1955, in Sweetwater. Betty was a homemaker and had worked for M System in the bakery and at the Farmer's Daughter. She was an avid porcelain doll collector and enjoyed cake decorating and cooking. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived in Sweetwater for 55 years.
Survivors include her husband, Jackie E. "Pete" Rowan of Sweetwater; daughter, Sherry DeLeon of Sweetwater; son, Robbie Rowan of Frisco; two sisters, Jackie Embry and Jo Embrey, both of Hamlin; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Randy Dale Rowan on June 22, 2001 and Roger Rowan on May 17, 2002; her parents, Marion D. and Grace Brown; and three sisters.
Pallbearers will be Giles Montgomery, Cody Muncy, John Ashbrooke, Timmy Neves and Donnie Embrey.
