BHS athletes are honored

Blackwell High School athletes were honored at an end-of-year banquet recently and several got top awards.
Caleb Jeter and Jennifer Allen were chosen respectively as the school’s outstanding overall boys and girls athletes.
Caleb Magness was top boys athlete in basketball and golf and shared tennis honors with Brandon Elliott, and Mason Magness was top athlete in track. Hadley Holland received the football honor, while Brandon Elliott received the Fighting Hornet award. Caleb Magness won the Monte Pillion Award and Jayden Jones was named as Newcomer of the Year.
Reccie Roland was top girls athlete in basketball, and other girls winning top honors in their individual sports for Blackwell were Kaitlyn Gaston in track, Brooklyn Harris in golf and Hannah Coffman in tennis. Jessica Morrow received the Fighting Hornet Award and Monte Pillion Award, and Summer Mull was Newcomer of the Year. The Monte Pillion Award goes to the top boys and girls scholar athlete and is named in honor of a former Blackwell High School athlete.
