Blackwell athletes receive honors at year-end banquet

Several Blackwell High School athletes were given top awards at a year-end sports banquet that was held May 22.
Jayden Jones and Matthew Lowry were the co-recipients for outstanding boys athlete at Blackwell this past school year and Brooklyn Harris was outstanding girls athlete.
Mason Magness was the top male scholar athlete and also received the boys Fighting Hornet award. Receiving the girls Fighting Hornet award was Shianne Solis, while Halee Sanderson was the top female scholar athlete.
In addition, a number of athletes were honored with MVP awards in their respec-tive sports. Jones and Lowry were the co-MVPs in football, with Lowry also the MVP in boys basketball and Jones named MVP in boys track. Harris was named the MVP in girls golf. Other MVPs were Cole Alley in boys golf; Abbigail Sorrells in girls track and girls cross country; Hailey Bennett in girls basketball; Crystal Chavez in girls tennis; Mason Bradbury in boys tennis; and Heath Rasco in boys cross country. San-derson was girls newcomer of the year and Alley was boys newcomer of the year.
