Preview of Blackwell's bout against Jayton tonight

Following its 54-6 home victory over Westbrook in its Six-Man opener last week, Blackwell will stay at Hornet Stadium to host Jayton as it tries for a 2-0 start at 7:30 tonight.
Jayton figures to be a tougher opponent for Blackwell after defeating Lueders-Avoca 48-0 in its opener. The Hornets, who are coming off their first on-field win in nearly two years, are ranked as a one-point underdog against the Jaybirds but should be con-fident after last week’s win.
Highland and Roscoe, on the other hand, were on the receiving end of lopsided losses in Week 0. Highland will host a tough Sterling City team while Roscoe is on the road at Irion County. The latter teams both opened at Sweetwater’s Sammy Baugh Classic as Irion County beat Roby, 30-20, to begin the season while the Plowboys — who are looking for their first win since the 2010 sea-son when they last made the playoffs — fell to De Leon’s Bearcats 38-6 in their opener at Mustang Bowl.
Highland lost 60-12 in its opener to Motley County at Jayton’s Gridiron Classic and likely will again face a very tough battle with Ster-ling City, which was an 11-3 Division II semifinalist this past season.
Sterling City, in fact, was eliminated by Motley County 84-36 in the semi-finals. However, the Eagles have moved into the Divi-sion I ranks while Motley County is still D-II. The Matadors lost to Richland Springs 76-28 in the finals this past season.
