Blood drive planned for tomorrow

July 8, 2014

A community blood drive will take place in Sweetwater on Wednesday, July 9. The Meek Blood Center bloodmobile will be parked in the First Financial Bank parking lot from noon until 6 p.m.
“We are asking donors to please remember that the need for blood is constant. Even the regular of blood donors get busy in the summer with vacations and other activities and forget to donate blood. Blood donation only takes about an hour, and that hour could give someone else a lifetime,” said Frances Baker, donor recruiter for Meek Blood Center.
Changes have been made to streamline the screening process and some previous restrictions regarding medical conditions and medications have been lifted. Those who have eligibility questions can speak with the Meek Blood Center supervisor at 325-670-2880.
Each donor will receive a patriotic T-shirt and a complimentary total cholesterol test.
