Blood drives in Sweetwater tomorrow

Recent events highlight the need for an adequate blood supply

Meek Blood Center will bring two bloodmobiles to Sweetwater on Thursday, May 9 from noon until 6 p.m. The bloodmobile that usually parks at the Nolan County Courthouse will be parked in the First Financial Bank parking lot located across the street from the Post Office. The other bloodmobile will be parked at the Lions Club building at 1501 Lamar Street.
“Recent events in our country and state serve as a reminder that an adequate supply of blood must be available at all times,” said Frances Baker, donor recruiter for Meek Blood Center. “We never know what each day will bring in terms of blood needs and usage. Blood donations in the area communities serve as a vital link in our ability to supply blood to patients in 17 area hospitals, including Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital,” Baker continued.
Changes have been made to streamline the screening process and some previous restrictions regarding medical conditions and medications have been lifted. Those who have eligibility questions can speak with a Meek Blood Center technician at 325-670-2798.
