Blood drives to take place in Sweetwater this Thursday

September 3, 2013

Two blood drives will take place in Sweetwater on Thursday from noon until 6 p.m. One bloodmobile will be parked at the Lions Club building at 1501 Lamar. The other bloodmobile will be parked in the First Financial Bank parking lot. First Financial Bank has graciously agreed to allow bloodmobile parking at their location while the Nolan County Courthouse is undergoing renovation.
“Meek Blood Center depends on blood donors in the communities we serve to help supply blood to 16 area hospitals, including Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital. Having an adequate blood supply is a vital component to the operation of the hospitals we serve, and we appreciate all of the wonderful donors in Sweetwater who help make that possible,” said Frances Baker, donor recruiter.
Changes have been made to streamline the screening process and some previous restrictions regarding medical conditions and medications have been lifted. Those who have eligibility questions can speak with the Meek Blood Center supervisor at 325-670-2880.
Each donor will receive a T-shirt and a complimentary total cholesterol test.
