Looking for some laughs this weekend?Â
On Saturday night, 4th and Elm Church of Christ will welcome Christian comedian Bob Smiley to their campus. He will be performing a free show from 6 to 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary. David Peyton, the Outreach Minister at the church, stated that the congregation would like to invite the entire community to this free event for a night of clean family fun.
According to Smiley's website, his start in comedy began as a young college student when he entered a stand-up competition on campus. The prize of $500 motivated him to enter, due to the fact that it covered almost five months' rent.
He had never performed on stage before, but ended up winning the competition. Since that time, he started his own tour, opening for Christian music acts such as Newsboys, Third Day and Mercy Me.Â
The exposure resulted in youth pastors across the country asking Smiley to entertain their youth groups. And after sixteen years, Smiley is "one of the nation's most in-demand and hilarious clean comedians."
The public is invited to attend the show. To learn more about the comedian, visit his website at bobsmiley.com, follow him on Twitter (@bobsmileycomic) or find him on Facebook.
