Boys at home, but girls travel

Sweetwater’s boys basket-ball teams will be at home today, while the girls travel to Ballinger.
The Mustangs (5-9) will try to end a three-game los-ing streak when they play host to Bangs starting at 7:30 p.m. Freshman and JV games are also on tap today at 4:30 and 6 p.m.
In other Nolan County high school games, Roscoe’s girls go to Cross Plains; the Highland boys go to Jayton; the Highland girls (12-3, 1-0) have a district home game against Roby; Blackwell’s girls (2-8, 1-0) will also play a district home game today against Bronte; and the Blackwell boys will host Ira in non-district. The boys are 5-5 after winning three of five games at the recent Lohn tournament.
At Lohn, Blackwell defeated the Brookesmith varsity (40-17), the Brady freshmen (45-34) and the Novice varsity (40-37), while losing to Lohn (44-50) and Paint Rock (31-51). The Hornets also lost to Trent, 67-39, back on Dec. 6.
Sweetwater’s girls (9-8) play at 6:30 p.m. today following freshman and JV games that start at 5 p.m.
The Roscoe girls (8-6) are coming off a 33-32 double overtime victory at Albany. The Roscoe boys (0-9) are idle today. Highland’s girls can build on their early dis-trict momemtum by beating Roby at 6:30 p.m., as can Blackwell’s girls when they play host to Bronte at 5 p.m. The Blackwell boys will take on Ira at 3:30 p.m., with a JV boys game at 2 p.m.
Blackwell and Highland have district doubleheaders Monday at Robert Lee and Ira, respectively.
