First Baptist Church Sweetwater welcomes Buckner International’s President and CEO, Albert Reyes, as their guest speaker at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22 in the church sanctuary located at 213 East Third Street.
Albert L. Reyes is the sixth President and CEO of Buckner International and has worked for Buckner since 2007. Buckner International is a global, faith-based ministry dedicated to transforming the lives of orphans, vulnerable children, families and elders in the United States and around the world. Founded in 1879 in Dallas, today Buckner serves more than half a million people in 18 countries worldwide through a variety of programs designed to protect children and build strong families. These programs include foster care and adoption, family transition programs, community-based family preservation programs and retirement services for the elderly. Buckner also provides humanitarian aid and crisis relief to poverty-stricken families in the United States and worldwide.
“Buckner is one of the Christian organizations that truly seeks to minister as Jesus has called all Christians to do,” says David Woods, Music Minister at First Baptist Church. “We have been blessed to partner with Buckner in numerous missions projects and are excited to have Dr. Reyes in Worship on Sunday.”
Prior to his service at Buckner, Reyes was president of Baptist University of the Américas in San Antonio and served as a pastor of three churches. He has also been involved in numerous roles with the 2.5 million-member Baptist General Convention of Texas, serving as its President in 2005.
