On Monday morning, April 11, the Nolan County Commissioners' Court met for its regular meeting at the Nolan County Courthouse.
At the meeting, a bid was received for approximately 70,000 tons of Grade 3 crushed rock for this summer's seal coating project. Vulcan Materials Company in Abilene offered the only bid to the commissioners which was accepted and approved.
Also on the agenda was to receive and consider approval of bids for the depository for Nolan County. Bids were received from both Texas National Band and First Financial Bank, in which the commissioners were offered a comparison chart of both banks.
Both banks provide the services in which the county is interested in, and representatives from both banks were present and outlined details of some of the benefits offered. Both bids were approved to be received by the county; however, a decision was made and approved to table the matter until further review.
In addition, due in part to the massive wildfire that is being battled in a majority of the state, the burn ban remains in effect for Nolan County for the next two weeks.
Six reports were received from various county department heads, including the Veterans' Office, Welfare Department, Tax Office, and the Nolan County Treasurer, Auditor and Clerk.
The minutes from the meeting held on March 28 were reviewed, yet a discrepancy was noted. The error was corrected, and the minutes were approved.
