Graveside services for C.W. Head, 87, of Sweetwater, will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Sweetwater Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Payne officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 24, 2012, from 2-4 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
Head died on Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Sweetwater Health Care Center.
He was born Aug. 3, 1924, in Henderson County, Texas. He married Jo Ann Boone on July 28, 1967, in Sweetwater. C.W. attended school in Athens, Texas and moved to Roscoe and lived there several years before moving to Sweetwater. He worked for Lone Star Industries as a heavy equipment operator for many years and helped to build the facility. C.W. dearly loved his wife Jo Ann and his family. He was very supportive of all his children and all activities they were involved in from sports to social activities to the rodeo circuit. He loved to work on his old cars while teaching his sons the art and being outdoors with his horses and his dogs. C.W. loved his Lord and was a very happy and content man while living a very simple and good life. A big thank you to Sweetwater Healthcare Center, they went above and beyond. Also thank you to Hospice, Dr. McEachern and Dr. Kassis.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Head of Sweetwater; daughters, Doris Harvey and husband Sam of Abilene, Sherene Templet and husband Warren of Roby, Celia Rasberry and husband Freddie of Roby, Shanna Zelner and husband Randy of Seminole and Kelly Espinoza and husband Raul of Abilene; sons, Winfred Head and wife Bonnie of Granbury, Teddy Head and wife Shelley of Victoria and Kenny Head of Mt. View, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Maudie Head; a son, Clinton Head in 2007; a daughter, Kimberly Jo Head Davis in 2010; four brothers; and one sister.
