Sweetwater boys powerlifting results from regional meet

Angel Caballero of Sweet-water placed 10th in the 275-pound weight class at the Region I, Division 2 Class 3A boys powerlifting meet Friday in Sundown.
Caballero lifted a total of 1,070 pounds. He was one of 14 boys from Sweetwater at the regional meet, but his accomplishment was not included in a story that ran in Monday’s paper.
Sweetwater’s other boys regional powerlifters were Jay Lomas in the 123-pound class; Bray Amos and John-athan Browning in the 132-pound class; Donald Baker and Austin Marlett in the 148-pound class; Ryan Linebaugh in the 165-pound class; Sam Nemir in the 181-pound class; Alex Garcia, Anthony Palacios and Kyle Lambert in the 198-pound class; Kendall Rea in the 220-pound class; Mateo Gonzales in the 242-pound class; and Chase Saunders in the 275-pound class.
Linebaugh and Nemir were regional champions and Gonzales was second in his class. All three advance to the state meet March 24 in Abilene. Sweetwater’s Loni Mendez, Joslyn Rosas, Cari Aguilar and Lexie Perez will be competing at the girls’ state meet in Corpus Christi this Saturday.
