Camp Courage offers healing and hope for children suffering loss

April 5, 2013

Applications now being accepted for this summer's Camp Courage held by Hendrick Hospice Care

Dealing with loss can be difficult for anyone, but children can find it especially challenging. Hendrick Hospice Care’s Camp Courage offers a place of healing and hope for area children suffering a loss of a loved one through death, divorce or other painful transition. Registration is now open for the camp scheduled for Saturday, June 1 through Tuesday, June 4. The camp is offered for third through 12th graders and is held in Lueders.
The four-day, three-night camp offers children typical recreational camp activities, as well as grief activities to build self-confidence, trust and understanding of their grief experience. The supportive environment works to give children an outlet for unexpressed emotions, develop coping skills and provides connections with other children who have suffered similar losses.
In addition to Camp Courage, Hendrick Hospice Care will offer Camp Courage JR, a day camp for children entering kindergarten through second grade. It is designed for campers who may not be ready for an overnight camp experience.
Applications for Camp Courage and Camp Courage JR are being accepted now through April 29. For more information and applications, visit hendrickhospice.org/campcourage, email acolley@ehendrick.org or call 325-670-6951.
