Catarino "Papa" Galvan

A memorial service for Catarino "Papa" Galvan, 82, of Roscoe, will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at First United Methodist Church in Roscoe with Billy Joe Jay officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Galvan died Wednesday, June 15, 2011, in Lubbock.
He was born Feb. 13, 1929, in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He married Maria Luisa Rodriguez on June 5, 1955, in San Diego, Texas. Catarino was a farmer and had lived in Roscoe for 40 years and attended the First United Methodist Church in Roscoe.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Luisa Galvan of Roscoe; daughters, Juanita Garcia and husband Daniel of Roscoe, Gracie Garza and husband Luis of Edinburg, Texas, Mari Cornett and husband Benny of Roscoe, Patty Hamilton and husband Lance of Fort Worth; son Jose Galvan and Maria Galvan of Roscoe; brother, Jesus Galvan and wife Mary Alice of Roscoe; sisters, Lupita Perez of Houston, Celia Galvan of Houston, Elva Gonzales of Laredo, Araceli Tello of Laredo, Arminda Hernandez of Laredo, Anita Gonzales of Lansing, Michigan and Socorro Galvan of Alice, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel and Cresencia Galvan; two brothers; and one sister.
