CC runners tune up for district meet

Sweetwater cross country, tennis coverage

Sweetwater High School’s cross country runners com-peted at a meet hosted by Roscoe this past Tuesday in their final tuneup for the district meet at Snyder.
Individual times were as follows:
Girls — Madison Howard 16:08.16; Marissa Sanchez 16:09.80; Addisyn Cleckler 18:56.81; Hannah Sanchez 20:23.60.
Boys — Colton Scott 18:21.19: Brandon Howell 20:23.16.

Tennis team wins 14 of 18 matches against Greenwood
Sweetwater High School’s tennis team did exception-ally well this past Tuesday, winning 14 of 18 matches against Midland Greenwood at the SHS courts.
Sweetwater’s results follow:
Boys doubles — Stephen Shipp and Isaiah Hernandez won 8-1; Zach Bax and Billy Reeves won 8-2; Bryan Vause and Keygan Valdez won 8-1.
Girls doubles — Jenny Medellen and Kristen Casto won 8-4; Vida Gamez and Teresa Perez-Poe won 8-3.
Boys singles — Stephen Shipp lost 3-6, 6-2 (9-11); Isaiah Hernandez won 6-3, 6-3; Zach Bax won 6-0, 7-6 (7-5); Bryan Vause won 6-1, 6-1; Keygan Valdez won 6-1, 6-1; Michael Redondo won 6-2, 6-0.
Girls singles — Jenny Medellen lost 6-8; Kristen Casto lost 3-6; Teresa Perez-Poe won 6-3; Gewel Cherry lost 3-8; Vida Gamez won 6-2; Brianna Hicks won 8-5; Ashley Heaton won 8-4.
