Ceremony held for Navy retiree

A flag raising ceremony was held this morning at the Nolan County Courthouse for Dawn Michelle Ainsworth, Electronics Technician Chief (Surface Warfare/Air Warfare). She is the daughter of Lana and Aubrey McCain and the granddaughter of Randolph W. Ballard. She has two sons, Brandon Ainsworth, 15 and Cameron Ainsworth, 10.
Ainsworth joined the U.S. Navy on April 20, 1994 and will be officially retired on April 30, 2014 after 20 years of service. A retirement ceremony will be held on Feb. 7, in Norfolk, Virginia.
Her time in the Navy started with recruit training in Orlando, Florida, followed by Electronics Technical Training in Orlando, Chicago and San Diego. Ainsworth's duty stations include USS SIMON LAKE (AS 33) in La Maddalena, Italy; Naval Telecommunications Area Master Station Atlantic (NCTAMS LANT) Detachment Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Commissioning crew USS BULKLEY (DDG) 84; Trial Services Office, East Norfolk, VA; Center for Surface Combat Systems Learning Site, Norfolk, VA; Assault Craft Unit Four: Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) Navigator; Commander, Naval Surface Forces Atlantic; Center for Surface Combat Systems Detachment, East Norfolk, VA.
