Chamber hosts luncheon for new Sweetwater teachers

The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce held their annual New Teacher Luncheon on Thursday at The Center at the local TSTC (Texas State Technical College) West Texas campus.
The new teachers were welcomed by Chamber President Zollie Steakley, who made some remarks along with Sweetwater ISD Superintendent Terry Pittman. Twenty-five new teachers were introduced at the gathering.
Three of the new teachers will teach at TSTC: Shannon Weir, Jerry Johnson and Joe Lucas. Within Sweetwater ISD, J.P. Cowen Early Childhood Center will welcome Stephanie Harrell and Salvador Barrego.
Danci Dennis, Elizabeth Garland, Jennifer Reed, Crystal Ussery and Sharla May will teach at Southeast Elementary, while East Ridge will welcome Amy Franco and Lynn Keener. Tammy Morris and Amanda Trites will be the new teachers at Sweetwater Intermediate.
Sweetwater Middle School will welcome Lori McCoy, Kit Womble, Sandra Johnson, Karen Peyton, Emily Disbro, Casie Britt, Carlee Smith, Tyrone Crawford and Eddie Weaver.
At Sweetwater High School, Matthew Gudino, Whitney Ashford, Ron Morris, Weston Mitchell and Joe Bob Ussery will be new teachers.
Those who introduced and welcomed the new teachers were Lone Star Ag Credit, Bennett and Associates, Lita McEachern, Creative Graphic Solutions, First Financial Bank and Trust, Nolan County Coliseum, East Ridge Veterinary, Texas State Technical College, Buzzi Unicem, Texas National Bank, WASP Museum, Richard Fergeson State Farm, Team Chip, Roscoe State Bank, Emmanuel Fellowship, Ludlum Measurements, McCoy Funeral Home, County-City Library, Maberry Insurance, Law Office of Zollie Steakley and Sweetwater Economic Development.
Also in attendance at the luncheon were campus principals and administrators within Sweetwater ISD. Kirk Maberry, incoming president-elect of the Chamber Board, wrapped up the event by expressing his appreciation to those who invest in the lives of local children and concluded with a prayer.
