Charles (CP) Davis was born on October 11, 1929 in Normangee, TX and entered Heavenâ€™s gates on March 24, 2011.
CP grew up in Sweetwater, TX and graduated from Newman High School in 1947.Â After graduation he worked for the Santa Fe Railroad.Â He was drafted and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.Â In 1961, CP moved to Oklahoma City where he worked for the Federal Aviation Administration until his retirement on October 12, 1989.Â He loved camping, fishing, bowling, roller skating and was an avid bird watcher.Â
CP married Jalene Mayhugh on July 12, 1969.Â Although they never had children of their own, Uncle CP was adored by his nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
He moved to Yukon, OK in 1972.Â Although he faithfully attended South Yukon Church of Christ with his wife Jalene, he held firmly to his Baptist faith and doctrine.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ed C. Davis in 1960 and his mother, Hettie R. Davis in 1981.
CP is survived by his wife of the home; brother, John Davis and wife Jennie of Oklahoma City, OK; sister, Christine Armstrong and husband Earl of Yukon, OK and a host of nieces and nephews.
Because of his adoration for children and their well-being, in lieu of flowers memorial gifts can be made to St. Jude Childrenâ€™s Home or the childrenâ€™s charity of oneâ€™s choice.
Family will be receiving visitors from 6-7 p.m., on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home, Yukon, OK.Â A private family service will be held on Sunday, March 27, 2011 with interment following at the Yukon, Cemetery, Yukon, OK.
